Dear Parent/Guardian,
I am pleased to welcome you and your child to Goetre Community Primary School and am confident that the years spent here will be happy and successful. As a parent myself, I know there are many
factors that can influence our decisions about our children’s education. These factors might include class sizes, facilities, quality of teaching and learning and the comprehensive school that the children will go on to attend.
Goetre Community Primary is situated in Gurnos, Merthyr. We are fortunate to be blessed with a brand new school (opened in September 2026). Our school benefits from extensive grounds that include playgrounds, a nature area, small adventure playground, and a number of outside learning areas. We also use a football/rugby pitch and multi-use games area (MUGA) within the school grounds.
The new facility provides a modern, state-of-the-art learning environment for our pupils. We have Enhanced Learning Spaces with spacious classrooms, advanced technology, and dedicated areas for creative and physical activities, ensuring our pupils have the best possible environment to thrive.
We have facilities for the Flying Start programme, offering high-quality pre-school childcare. This co-location provides a seamless transition for children as they progress from early years into primary education.
We are supported by our excellent, committed Governing Body and a dedicated, enthusiastic and talented team of staff who work hard to ensure our pupils receive the best possible start in life.
